Day 3: Seeking Support from within Community

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ
— Galatians 6:2 (ESV)

God designed us to be in community, and in times of anxiety, leaning on the support of others can be incredibly beneficial. We don't have to carry our burdens alone. We were designed for community. Friends, family, and our church communities can provide an outlet to share our struggles and receive encouragement and prayer.

The Apostle Paul reminds us in Galatians 6:2, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." When we share our anxieties with others, we allow them to come alongside us, offering their love, understanding, and support.

Being discerning about the individuals we trust with our burdens is crucial. It is important to choose wisely when sharing sensitive or personal information. As you practice discernment, choose people you trust who will encourage and lift you up you rather than fuel your anxieties. Seek those who will point you back to God and His Word.

When you reach out to others, you may be surprised to find that many have experienced similar feelings of anxiety. There is strength in vulnerability and knowing you are not alone in your struggles. Together, you can lift each other up in prayer and spur one another on in faith.

Pray: Lord, thank You for the gift of community. I pray for supportive friends and family who can lift me up during anxious times. Bless those who journey with me and help me be a source of encouragement to others too. Amen.
